Maintenance of Peace and Order Bill - Text of Amendments made by National Assembly on 8th August

The Maintenance of Peace and Order Bill was passed by the National Assembly on 8th August 2019 with the amendments recorded in the document downloadable below.  The Bill was then transmitted to the Senate for consideration.  An annotated version of the Bill is also available on this website indicating the effect of the amendments made.

On 8th August 2019 the National Assembly passed the Maintenance of Peace and Order Bill with amendments to clauses 4, 5, 7, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 19, 21 and the Schedule plus the insertion of a Preamble and a new clause 24 repealing the Public Order and Security Act.

Parliament has in notices published today announced that the National Assembly's Portfolio Committee on Information, Media and Broadcasting Services will hold public consultations on the Freedom of Information Bill (H.B. 6, 2019) from 19th August 2019 to 30th August 2019.
