HIS EXCELLENCY THE HONOURABLE ROBERT GABRIEL MUGABE, G .C.Z.M., President of Zimbabwe and Commander in-Chief of the Defence Forces of Zimbabwe.
WHEREAS it is provided by section 39(2) of the Electoral Act [Chapter 2:13], that after the President has been notified in terms of the said section of a vacancy in the membership of Parliament, he shall issue a Proclamation ordering a new election to fill the vacancy in the same manner, mutatis mutandis, as is provided in section 38 of the said Act in regard to a general election;
AND WHEREAS, the Speaker of Parliament has notified me in writing of a vacancy in Parliament by reason of Mr. Temba Mliswa, having ceased to be a member of the Zimbabwe African National Union Patriotic Front (ZANU PF) on the 19th of February, 2015, who was the elected Member of Parliament in the National Assembly for the constituency of Hurungwe West.
NOW, THEREFORE, under and by virtue of the powers vested in the President as aforesaid, I do, by this my Proclamation-
(a) order new elections for the constituency of Hurungwe West;
(b) fix Wednesday the 8th of April, 20 15, and the Magistrates' Court, Gerrard Drive, Chinhoyi, as the date on which and the place at which a nomination court shall sit in terms of section 46 of the Electoral Act [Chapter 2:1 3], to receive nominations of candidates for election for the constituency of Hurungwe West; and
(c) fix Wednesday the l0th of June, 2015, as the day on which a poll shall be taken if a poll becomes necessary in terms of section 46(17)( c) of the Electoral Act [Chapter 2:13].
