BILL WATCH 19/2016

[28th April 2016]

Consultation Meetings for Formulation of an Interim
Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper [IPRSP] for Zimbabwe

This bulletin is distributed as a public service, to supplement advertisements published in the press by the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development.

The Ministry of Finance and Economic Development is co-ordinating the development of an Interim Poverty Reduction Strategy (2016-2018) for Zimbabwe.  The purpose is to enhance Government efforts in fighting poverty in Zimbabwe and ensure inclusive growth, guided by ZIM ASSET.  The IPRSP will focus on practical and well-targeted measures that can be implemented in the short to medium term, with long-lasting impacts that guarantee improvement in citizenry welfare.  It is also expected to facilitate the re-engagement process with the International Financial Institutions and co-operating partners, which is key in financing the country's development process.  Core principles of an IPRSP are that it should be country driven, promoting national ownership through broad-based participation by all stakeholders.

To ascertain the views of stakeholders, including members of the public, the Ministry will be conducting consultative meetings as per the following schedule:
