Programme of Public Hearings on

HIGH PREVALENCE OF CHILD MARRIAGES IN MASHONALAND CENTRAL

Monday 30th May to Friday 3rd June

The National Assembly’s Portfolio Committee on Women’s Affairs, Gender and Community Development will be holding public hearings on the above High Prevalence of Child Marriages in Mashonaland West from Monday 30th May to Friday 3rd June.  The hearings will be at eight centres in Mashonaland West Province.  The programme is set out below.

Attendance at the Public Hearings

Interested groups and organisations and members of the general public are invited to attend these public hearings and tell members of the Portfolio Committee what they know about the practice of child marriage in their areas and what can and should be done to eliminate it.

At the beginning of each public hearing, the chairperson will explain the procedure to be followed.

If you want to speak at a hearing, it will be helpful if you notify the committee clerk or public relations officer [see names below] before the hearing, if possible, so that he or she can notify the chairperson to call on you.  

PLEASE NOTE THAT ACCESS TO THE PUBLIC HEARING WILL NOT BE ALLOWED FOR ANYONE WEARING MILITARY UNIFORMS, SIGNS OF RANKS, FLAGS OR BADGES OR POLITICAL PARTY REGALIA.

Written submissions and correspondence are also welcome and should be addressed to The Clerk of Parliament, Attention: Portfolio Committee on Women’s Affairs, Gender and Community Development and—

sent by email – addressed to clerk@parlzim.gov.zw, or

delivered – if delivering, use the Kwame Nkrumah Avenue entrance to Parliament, between Second and Third Streets, Harare, or

sent by post – to  P.O. Box CY298 Causeway, Harare.
