Extra Public Hearings on Local Government Laws Amendment Bill:
Tuesday 21st and Wednesday 22nd June
There will be extra public hearings on the Local Government Laws Amendment Bill in Umguza, Lupane, Gwanda and Plumtree from Tuesday 21st and Wednesday 22nd June. This is to make up for the omission of Matabeleland North and South from the original programme of public hearings conducted last week. The Committee members will divide into two groups for the hearings; Group 1 will hold hearings in Lupane and Umguza, while Group 2 will hold hearings in Gwanda and Plumtree. The programme is set out below.

Attendance at the Public Hearings
Interested groups and organisations and members of the general public are invited to attend these public hearings and give members of the Portfolio Committee their views on the Bill.
At the beginning of each public hearing, the chairperson will explain the procedure to be followed.
If you want to speak at a hearing, it will be helpful if you notify the committee clerk or public relations officer before the hearing, if possible, so that he or she can notify the chairperson to call on you.
PLEASE NOTE THAT ACCESS TO THE PUBLIC HEARING WILL NOT BE ALLOWED FOR ANYONE WEARING MILITARY UNIFORMS, SIGNS OF RANKS, FLAGS OR BADGES OR POLITICAL PARTY REGALIA.
