Parliament is Not Sitting This Week
Both Houses will Sit Again on Tuesday 17th November
Last Week in Parliament
Both Houses sat last week from Tuesday 3rd to Thursday 5th November. No Bills were passed. What happened in both Houses will be covered in a separate bulletin to be issued shortly.
Postponement of Pre-Budget Seminar until 19th to 21st November
On Wednesday 4th November the Speaker announced that the postponement of the 2021 Pre-Budget Seminar which was initially scheduled for 5th to 7th November until 19th to 21st November 2020. He explained that the postponement was to allow for the finalization of the process of crafting the First National Development Strategy (2021-2025), for which the 2021 National Budget will be a crafting tool.
It will be interesting to see what other effects this delay in production of the First National Development Strategy has on progress on the 2021 National Budget.
Committees Still Functioning
Despite this enforced recess for both Houses, several committee meetings are going ahead this week, in addition to countrywide public hearings being conducted, as notified in separate bulletins.
