1. ZIMBABWE’S RESPONSE TO THE COVID-19 OUTBREAK

 

The Minister of Defence and War Veterans Affairs, as Deputy Chair of the Ad-Hoc Inter-Ministerial Task Force on COVID-19, presented the weekly Report on the National Response to the COVID-19 Outbreak, which was adopted by Cabinet.

The Chairman of the Ad-Hoc Inter-Ministerial Task Force on COVID-19, Honourable Vice President K.C.D. Mohadi, presented the weekly Report on the National Response to the COVID-19 Outbreak, which was adopted by Cabinet.  Cabinet was informed that, out of the ninety-one thousand one hundred and three (91 103) tests conducted throughout the country, one thousand and thirty-four (1 034) were confirmed COVID-19 positive, compared to the seven hundred and thirty-four (734) cases reported on 6 July, 2020.

1.     ZIMBABWE’S RESPONSE TO THE CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) OUTBREAK

Cabinet was briefed by the Honourable Vice President K. C. D. Mohadi, as Chairman of the Ad Hoc Inter-Ministerial Task Force on the COVID-19, on the steps that were being taken to contain the spread of the pandemic.

Cabinet Meeting 2020-21: 23rd June

Cabinet received and adopted the weekly report on the National Response to the COVID-19 Outbreak as presented by the Chairman of the Ad-Hoc Inter-Ministerial Task Force on COVID-19, Honourable Vice President K.C.D. Mohadi.Cabinet was informed that the cumulative rapid screening and PCR tests conducted had reached 63 347 (36 126 RDT and 27 221 PCR) as of 22 June, 2020. The country has now recorded five hundred and twelve (512) COVID-19 confirmed cases, compared to the three hundred and eighty seven (387) reported on 15 June, 2020.

Cabinet Meeting 2020-18: 2nd June

Cabinet considered and adopted a report on the country’s response to the COVID-19 outbreak. The presentation was made by Honourable Vice President K.C.D. Mohadi, as Chairman of the Ad-Hoc Inter-Ministerial Task Force on COVID-19.  Cabinet noted that the cumulative rapid screening and PCR tests conducted has reached 45 395 as of 1 June, 2020.  These are disaggregated as follows: 27 373 rapid screening tests and 18 072 PCR diagnostic tests.

Cabinet Meeting 2020-17: 27th May

The Chairman of the Ad-Hoc Inter-Ministerial Task Force on COVID-19, Honourable Vice President K.C.D. Mohadi, presented the weekly report on the national preparedness and response to the COVID-19 Outbreak, which was adopted by Cabinet. Cabinet was informed that the number of COVID-19 tests conducted so far had increased from 31 589 recorded on 17 May, 2020 to 38 656. To date, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases stands at 132, up from the 56 cases recorded on 24 May, 2020.

Cabinet Meeting 2020-16: 21st May

The Chairman of the Ad-Hoc Inter-Ministerial Task Force on COVID-19, Honourable Vice President K.C.D. Mohadi presented the weekly report on the national preparedness and response to the COVID-19 Outbreak, which was adopted by Cabinet. Cabinet noted with satisfaction the progress in mass testing evidenced by the increase in the number of COVID-19 tests to 31 589 as at 17 May, 2020, up from the 23 096 recorded as at 10 May, 2020. The country has to date registered forty-eight (48) COVID-19 confirmed cases, inclusive of eighteen (18) recoveries and four(4) deaths.

Cabinet Meeting 2020-12: 21 April

Cabinet considered and approved a report on the country’s preparedness and response to the COVID-19  Outbreak as presented by the Chairman of the Ad Hoc Inter-Ministerial Task Force on COVID-19, Honourable Vice President K.C.D. Mohadi.

 

Notable progress has been registered with regard to the procurement of the requisite equipment for testing as well as for protection of the frontline health personnel and supporting staff.

 

Cabinet Meeting 2020-08: 24th March

The Minister of Health and Child Care updated Cabinet on the National Preparedness and Response Progress Regarding the COVID-19 Outbreak in Zimbabwe.  Cabinet noted with deep sorrow the passing on of Zororo Makamba yesterday at Wilkins Hospital and expressed deepest condolences to the family of the deceased.

 

Cabinet Meeting 2020-13: 28th April

Cabinet received and adopted a report on the national preparedness and response to the COVID-19 Outbreak, which was presented by Honourable K.C.D. Mohadi, Chairman of the Ad Hoc Inter-Ministerial Task Force on COVID-19.  Cabinet was informed that as at 26th April 2020, a cumulative total of 6 935 COVID-19 tests had been carried out.  Of these tests, 31 were confirmed positive cases, inclusive of five recoveries and four deaths. 

 

Cabinet Meeting 2020-10: 7th April

Cabinet considered and approved a Report on the country’s preparedness and response to the Corona Virus Outbreak (COVID-19), which was presented by Honourable Vice President Mohadi, as Chairman of the Inter-Ministerial Task Force on the COVID-19 Outbreak. Cabinet commended the general public for positively heeding the clarion call by His Excellency President E.D. Mnangagwa to stay at their homes for 21 days with effect from 30 March, 2020.
