VERITAS STATEMENT ON

INTERNATIONAL DAY IN SUPPORT OF VICTIMS OF TORTURE

[26th  June 2022]

June 26th has been declared as the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture by the United Nations General Assembly.  This day was institutionalised in the hope that there will be a world free from torture or other cruel, degrading and inhuman treatment inflicted on our fellow human beings.

February 2nd each year is World Wetlands Day.  It is a day the world commemorates the importance of wetlands in natural ecosystems, particularly in the face of climate change, droughts and flooding.

Veritas joins the rest of the world in commemorating the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances. The special day is commemorated annually on the 30th of August. The commemoration of this important day serves to remind states on the need to enact specific laws that protect citizens against the crime of enforced disappearances.
