General Laws Amendment Act, No 6 of 2005

To amend section 9 of the Statute Law Compilation and Revision Act [Chapter 1:03], the Maintenance Act [Chapter 5:09], section 4 of the Judges Salaries, Allowances and Pensions Act [Chapter 7:08], sections 13 and 14 of the Judicial College Act [Chapter 7:17], the Service of Documents (Telegraph) Act [Chapter 8:13], section 346A of the Criminal Procedure and Evidence Act [Chapter 9:07], sections 6 and 7 of the Miscellaneous Offences Act [Chapter 9:15], section 63 of the Serious Offences (Confiscation of Profits) Act [Chapter 9:17] and other Acts.

Class Actions Act [Chapter 8:17]

This Act may be cited as the Class Actions Act [Chapter 8:17]. TO provide for the institution and prosecution of legal proceedings by or on behalf of classes of persons and to provide for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto. This Act shall come into operation on a date to be fixed by the President by statutory instrument. 20th October, 2000 (fixed by Statutory Instrument 272A/2000).

Genocide Act [Chapter 9:20]

This Act may be cited as the Genocide Act [Chapter 9:20]. To enable effect to be given within Zimbabwe to the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, approved and proposed for signature and ratification or accession by the General Assembly of the United Nations on the 9th December, 1948; to amend the Extradition Act [Chapter 9:08]; and to provide for matters incidental to or connected with the foregoing.

Control of Goods Act [Chapter 14-05], showing 2007 Amendments

This Act may be cited as the Control of Goods Act [Chapter 14:05]. AN ACT to enable the President to provide by regulation for the control of the distribution, disposal, purchase and sale, and the wholesale and retail prices, of any manufactured or unmanufactured commodity or of any animal or poultry specified by the President by order or of any class of any such commodity, animal or poultry, for the control of imports into and exports from Zimbabwe; and for other purposes incidental and supplementary to the foregoing.

Disabled Persons Act [Chapter 17:01]

This Act may be cited as the Disabled Persons Act [Chapter 17:01]. AN ACT to make provision for the welfare and rehabilitation of disabled persons; to provide for the appointment and functions of a Director for Disabled Persons’ Affairs and the establishment and functions of a National Disability Board; and to provide for matters connected with or incidental to the foregoing.

 

NOTE ON AMENDMENTS

Competition Act [Chapter 14-28]

This Act may be cited as the Competition Act, 1996. AN ACT to promote and maintain competition in the economy of Zimbabwe; to establish a Competition and Tariff Commission and to provide for its functions; to provide for the prevention and control of restrictive practices, the regulation of mergers, the prevention and control of monopoly situations and the prohibition of unfair trade practices; and to provide for matters connected with or incidental to the foregoing.

Emergency Powers Act [Chapter 11:04] Annotated 2007

AN ACT to make exceptional provision for the protection of the community in cases where a declaration in terms of subsection (1), or a resolution in terms of subsection (6), of section 31J of the Constitution is in force; and to provide for matters incidental thereto or connected therewith. Date of commencement: 2nd December, 1960. This Act may be cited as the Emergency Powers Act [Chapter 11:04].

 

 

Census and Statistics Act [Chapter 10-29]

This Act may be cited as the Census and Statistics Act [Chapter 10:29]. Act No. 1 of 2007. Published in the Government Gazette on Friday 20th July, 2007. Commencement:  [to be fixed by statutory instrument in terms of section 1(2) of the Act]. To provide for the establishment of the National Statistics Agency which will replace the Central Statistical Office; to provide for the collection and processing of statistics; to repeal the Census and Statistics Act [Chapter 10:05]; and to provide for matters incidental to or connected with the foregoing.
