This Order by the Minister of Health and Child Care was published in a Government Gazette Extraordinary on 3rd April. 

It added paragraphs (n) to (u) to the definition of "essential service" in the principal Order published in SI 83/2020.

Covid-19: Financial Assistance for Vulnerable Groups

Introduction

On the 27th March the President announced that the country would go into “lockdown” for 21 days, starting on Monday the 30th March.  He said all businesses should stop working and people should stay in their homes for the 21-day period, except those engaged in essential services.

World Health day could not have come at a more necessary time.  To date, 74,866 people around the world have died of COVID-19, a disease caused by a new coronavirus, and 1,350,357 have contracted the virus.  COVID-19 has highlighted cracks in even the most sophisticated healthcare systems and has shown the importance of access to healthcare.

IT is hereby notified that the Minister of Health has, in terms of section 68 of the Public Health Act [Chapter 15:17], made the following regulations:—
1. This order may be cited as the Public Health (COVID-19 Prevention, Containment and Treatment) (National Lockdown) (Amendment) Order, 2020 (No. 1).

The Chief Justice yesterday issued the following self-explanatory Practice Direction effective from today, Monday 30th March 2020 and until Sunday 19th April, unless earlier extended.

THE Minister of Health, in terms of section 8(1) of the Public Health (COVID-19 Prevention, Containment and Treatment) Regulations, 2020 (published as Statutory Instrument 77 of 2020), and in consultation with the President, makes the following order:—
