Parliament has received the Local Government Amendment Bill from the Minister of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing.  On 27th April the Bill was sent to the Government Printer for printing and gazetting.

Parliament has been in recess since the adjournment of both Houses on Thursday 14th April.  According to the 2016 Parliamentary sitting calendar for the next three months, the May sittings will last from Tuesday 3rd to Thursday 19th May, June’s from 7th to 23rd June and July’s from 12th to 28th July, and there will be no sittings in August.

The National Assembly sat last week, and on Thursday, after passing the Criminal Procedure and Evidence Amendment Bill, adjourned until Tuesday 1st March.  The Senate and its committees will be sitting this week, having been in recess since the Senate adjourned on 4th February.
