Section 36(1) of the Electoral Act empowers the President to gazette a proclamation ordering a new registration of voters countrywide and specifying the day on which the registration must begin and the day on which it will end. Section 36(2)(b) allows the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission, by notice in the Government Gazette, to postpone the end day fixed by the proclamation.
Proclamation 6/2017 [SI /2017] [link] fixed 15th January as the end date of the new BVR voter registration exercise that started in October last year.
This notice by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission postponed the end date of the exercise to 8th February.
