The report of the Commission of Inquiry into the 1st of August 2018 Post-Election Violence was published on Tuesday 18th December 2018, commonly known as the Motlanthe Commission

The Commission was established in terms of the Commissions of Inquiry Act by Presidential Proclamation 6/2018, published in Statutory Instrument 181/2018 dated 14th September. The commissioners were sworn in on 19th September.
