IMF Staff Monitored Programme for Zimbabwe

May 15 2019 to May 15 2020

On 15th May 2019 the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) approved a Staff-Monitored Program (SMP) for Zimbabwe, covering the 10-month period May 15, 2019 to March 15, 2020.  Details of the SMP are provided in the IMF document downloadable below.

An SMP is an informal agreement between country authorities and IMF staff to monitor the implementation of the authorities’ economic program.  SMPs do not entail financial assistance or endorsement by the IMF Executive Board.

  • IMF Staff Report prepared by a staff team of the IMF, issued and circulated as for information to the Executive Board on May 22, 2019, following discussions that ended on April 5, 2019, with the officials of Zimbabwe on economic developments and policies underpinning the IMF arrangement under the Staff-Monitored Program.  Based on information available at the time of these discussions, the staff report was completed on May 21, 2019.  Annexed to the Staff Report are (1) the Letter of Intent sent to the IMF by the authorities of Zimbabwe, (2) the Memorandum of Economic and Financial Policies by the authorities of Zimbabwe and (3) the Technical Memorandum of Understanding.

Zimbabwe’s Transitional Stabilisation Programme October 2018 to December 2020 [TSP] is referred to in the IMF document.  It is available on this website in abridged form and unabridged form.
