Prosecutor General, Attorney General and Advocate Nkomo, it is yet again that time of the year when stakeholders in the administration of justice converge at this important occasion to mark the commencement of the legal year. This event creates a platform for us in the Judiciary to apprise the public, from which we derive our authority, of our performance in the preceding year, highlighting the achievements and the challenges met. It also affords us the opportunity to share our vision on the journey yet to be traversed in the coming year.
Before I proceed to give my address, allow me, Prosecutor General, Attorney General and Advocate Nkomo, to publicly congratulate the Hon. Justice Evangelista Kabasa on her appointment to the High Court in August 2019. Her subsequent deployment to the Bulawayo High Court bench brings to two the number of female Judges on that bench, which, I am advised, marks the first time in history that the station has had more than one female Judge at any given time.
I also wish to publicly congratulate the Honourable Retired Justice Ndou on his appointment as an Acting Judge of the Tax and Fiscal Appeals Division of the High Court.
