On Tuesday 13th and Wednesday 14th April 2021 members of the National Assembly continued contributing to the resumed Second Reading debate on the Constitution of Zimbabwe Amendment (No. 2) Bill, 2020.
The Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs then responded to points made during the debate and wound up the debate, warning MPs that he would be moving amendments to the Bill during the Committee Stage scheduled for the following day.
The Minister's proposed amendments were duly printed in the Order Paper for Thursday 15th April published late on the evening of 14th April on the Parliamentary website. The text of these amendments is available elsewhere on this website [link].
On Thursday 15th April, during a sitting that lasted until after 8 pm, the National Assembly sitting in committee of the whole House dealt with the Committee Stage of the Bill. A number of amendments were made, and the Bill, as amended, was reported to the resumed sitting of the full House. These amendments are set out in the downloadable document below.
