Filling of Two Vacancies on Human Rights Commission:
Parliament Announces Shortlisted Candidates for Public Interviews
on Friday 10th December at Parliament
Parliament’s Committee on Standing Rules and Orders has published the self-explanatory notice set out below notifying that its Committee on Standing Rules and Orders will, on Friday 10th December 2021 at Parliament Building, conduct public interviews of the eleven shortlisted candidates for appointment to fill two vacancies on the Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission [ZHRC].

NAMES OF CANDIDATES SHORTLISTED FOR THE
ZIMBABWE HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION (ZHRC) INTERVIEWS
The Committee on Standing Rules and Orders (CSRO) of the Parliament of Zimbabwe is mandated in terms of sections 237 and 238 of the Constitution, to nominate candidates for appointment by His Excellency, the President, to serve as Commissioners on the Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission (ZHRC) as provided for in Chapter 12 Part 2 of the Constitution.
The Committee on Standing Rules and Orders called on the public to nominate persons to be considered for appointment to this Commission whose functions and person specifications are outlined under Section 239 of the Constitution. The two (2) vacancies in the Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission (ZHRC), arose due to the expiry of the terms of office of two (2) Members by the 21st September 2021. The nominations closed on 1st October 2021.
Parliament of Zimbabwe received sixteen (16) nominations, ten (10) males and six (6) females, by the closing date. The Committee on Standing Rules and Orders met on Thursday, 18th November 2021 to consider the suitability of the nominees to serve on this Commission. The following eleven (11) candidates have hence been shortlisted for interviews to be held on the Friday 10th December 2021 at Parliament Building, corner Third Street and Kwame Nkrumah Avenue, Harare, as appended below:

All the above shortlisted candidates are advised to be at Parliament Building by no later than 07:30hrs on the day of the interviews and proceed to the National Assembly Chamber. All nominees should be seated in the National Assembly Chamber by 08:00hours. The interviews will be conducted in line with COVID-19 regulations and protocols. All unvaccinated candidates will be required to bring a negative COVID-19 certificate issued within 48 hours prior to the interviews.
The CSRO would like to thank all those who positively responded to the call to nominate candidates and the nominated candidates who gave their consent to offer themselves to serve on this Commission.
