Public Hearings Monday 4th to Friday 8th April on
Local Authorities’ Inadequate Service Delivery and
Lack of Public Consultation on Utilisation of Devolution Funds
The Portfolio Committee on Local Government, Public Works, National Housing and Public Amenities is considering petitions received by Parliament from Masvingo Residents and Rate Payers Alliance, Gweru Residents Forum, Budiriro High Density Community Water Supply, Southlands Residents Association and Headlands Residents Committee.
The committee will accordingly conduct public consultations in Masvingo, Gweru, Headlands, Budiriro and Southlands areas from Monday 4th to Friday 8th April – next week. The objective of the public consultations is to gather views of the public on:
1. non-delivery of adequate services; and
2. lack of public consultations on utilisation of devolution funds by local authorities.
The programme – times and venues – is shown in the attached document supplied by Parliament.
The usual rules for public hearings will apply:
ALL THOSE WHO WILL BE WEARING MILITARY UNIFORMS, SIGNS OF RANKS, FLAGS OR BADGES AND POLITICAL PARTY REGALIA WILL NOT HAVE ACCESS TO THE PUBLIC HEARING.
The public, interested groups, organisations are invited to attend these public hearings.
The public hearings will at all times comply with the Ministry of Health and Child Care COVID 19 Regulations regarding the observing of social distancing, sanitization, temperature screening and wearing of facial masks. All members of the public are urged to observe these requirements which will be monitored by the Ministry of Health and Child Welfare teams.
