No Open Committee Activities Next Week
[Monday 27 June to Friday 1 July]

Parliament has officially confirmed that the current adjournments of the National Assembly until Tuesday 12th July and the Senate until Tuesday 5th July have resulted in the suspension of Parliamentary committee activities until Monday 11th July for National Assembly portfolio committees and Monday 4th July for Senate thematic committees.

The only exception is the previously-arranged programme of fact-finding visits for the Senate’s Thematic Committee on Gender and Development to the Female Prison Units at Gokwe, Shurugwi and Lupane prisons, the Mlolondolozi Female Prison in Bulawayo and the Mutimurefu Female Prison in Masvingo. 

The committee is investigating the status and welfare of children accompanying incarcerated mothers and access to antenatal care for pregnant women in prisons.  The programme includes meetings with Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service officials and prisoners and tours of the prison units and prisons.
