Elections are the hallmark of any democratic process because they afford citizens of any country an opportunity to choose leaders to govern them and provide legitimacy to those entrusted with the mandate to rule or govern. The operationalisation of the right to vote in Zimbabwe is the express mandate of the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission in terms of section 239 of the Constitution of the Republic of Zimbabwe Ammendment ( No.20) 2013.
Following the proclamation of the 2023 Harmonised Elections by his Excellency the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, the Commission prepared for and conducted the 2023 Harmonised Elections on the 23rd of August which was subsequently extended to the 24th of August as a result of logistical challenges.
