Thematic Committee on HIV and AIDS:
Verification Visits and Public Hearings on
Anti-Retroviral (ART) Roll Out Programmes
This Week 3–7 June and Next Week 10–13 June
Both Houses of Parliament – and their Portfolio and Thematic Committees – began a one-week recess which will last until committees resume meeting on Monday 10th and the Senate and the National Assembly resume sitting on Tuesday 11th June, respectively. The only exception will be the Senate’s Thematic Committee on HIV and AIDS, which will sit this week and next to adhere to a long-arranged programme of Verification Visits and Public Hearings as part of the national response to the prevailing drug and substance abuse.
The Thematic Committee’s programme, which is attached to this bulletin, is as supplied to Veritas by Parliament and is self-explanatory. It is also available on the Veritas website [link]
Nevertheless, some introductory words may be necessary. The programme will cover the next two weeks, with visits to health centres and public hearings in the following districts on the following dates:
Tsholotsho district – Monday 3rd June
Bulilima-Mangwe district –Tuesday 4th June
Bulawayo district – Wednesday 5th June
Mberengwa district – Thursday 6th June
Chivi district – Friday 7th June
Zvimba district – Monday 10th June
Guruve district – Tuesday 11th June
Murehwa district – Wednesday 12th June
Harare district – Thursday 13th June.
At each district health centre the Thematic Committee will meet with the local representatives of the National AIDS Council and Ministry of Health and Child Care before moving on to the public hearing at the specified venue. All further details are to be found on the programme.
