COMMISSIONS WATCH 17 November 2023 - ZHRC Statement on the Political Violence and Human Rights Violations in the Country

Yesterday, the 16th of November 2023, the Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission (ZHRC) released a statement on the political and human rights violations in the country. This statement has been issued on the heels of numerous reports of violence from the public and the media  as well as the Zimbabwe Republic Police. 

ZHRC Annual Report 2022

The ninth Annual Report of the Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission provides an overview of the activities of the Commission in the past year carried out in line with its constitutional mandate as provided for in section 243 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe.

Global Alliance of Human Rights Institutions Renews ZHRC's A Status Membership

2.6 Zimbabwe: The Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission (ZHRC)
Recommendation: The SCA recommends the ZHRC be re-accredited with A status.
The SCA commends the ZHRC for its continuing efforts to promote and protect human rights.
The SCA highlights that NHRIs that have been accredited A status should take reasonable steps to enhance their effectiveness and independence, in line with the Paris Principles and the recommendations made by the SCA during this review.
